This is a quick post with a quick dish and one of my all-time favorites on my Flickr food set. I took the photo above back in December 2009. It was an aha! moment for me. I realized how good natural light can make food look so sexy! Since then I’ve been chasing the light when photographing food.

I normally use fish roe in soups but decided to fry it for this quick recipe. I cooked it with caramelized onion and some freshly harvested garlic from the garden, fresh udon and added sauce at the end of cooking. The sauce is a mixture of rice vinegar,  light soy sauce and hoisin sauce.

Verdict? It hit the spot!

I love the colors you display with the udon shot. The color of the noodles and the black bowl / chopsticks even “firmly set-off’ the lit rim. Genius!
