Confessions of a porn addict

I ADMIT, I am addicted.  It started not long ago when I stumbled upon that book. My initial reaction was a combination of awe and disbelief. I’ve never seen anything like it. It was dark, moody and dirty. I gazed at page after page of tantalizing photos. I drool. Oh no, I was hooked…

Such was my reaction after browsing Katie Quinn Davies’ cookbook What Katie Ate. Food pornography on my dining table! My visual and gustatory senses are aroused just by looking at the photos. And the layout of  this cookbook is like no other.

I have already tried some of her eye-popping and mouth-watering recipes – Barbecued sweetcorn with chili, mint and lime butter; my breakfast favourite Mushrooms on toast with walnuts and cheese; Baby carrots roasted with thyme, hazelnuts and wine. And yesterday, I tried Katie’s Spicy pumpkin with roasted pumpkin seeds and pangrattato (Italian for breadcrumb). It was surprisingly easy to make. The pangrattato was a revelation.

Ooooooh, quite a seductive set of images. Excellent! Obviously this is mood food, and oh, what a buzzy feeling gets generated! Words such as “suck” and “lick” come to mind. (and I know what I want for dessert!) These shots are hot. Great style for food photography that’s much more about the delicious, deep, sensual experience than a mere tasty presentation. So good!
